The Great Lakes of North America is an area of immense natural beauty. I've lived near Lake Ontario (lake at bottom right) most of my life, so I thought it would be a fun way to sharpen my skills in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop by creating a generalized depth map of the lakes. Inspired by similar maps, my goal was to create this entirely out of vector lines, none of which overlap. I like the result overall, so thought I would share!
The Great Lakes are the largest group of freshwater lakes on Earth by total area, and second-largest by total volume, containing 21% of the world's surface fresh water by volume. The total surface is 244,106 km/sq (294,250 miles/sq), and the total volume is 22,671 km/cu (35,439 miles/cu).
