She intended to use this as her personal portfolio however it was later adopted for myself as my personal portfolio with a later intent of using it for freelance photography. We decided to re-brand Peafactory.com to Pellstudio.com after we created our own personal domains. Peafactory’s logo is the thing I love most about, possibly cliché, it is a pea wearing a hard hat. The term Peafactory derives from a silly origin, my last name (P)ell as well as the fact Sandra and I are two creative peas in a pod, dorky, I know!.

Design Details

Type

Website

Client

Steve Pell

My Role

Interface, UX, IA, Visual System, Brand, CSS, HTML

URL

www.peafactory.com

Spring time over Lake Ontario

Photo

blue

dirt

Humber Bay

lake

no leaves

polarizer

rock

sand

spring

toronto

tree

vivid

water

After a dark, cold winter in Ontario, there comes a day where the sun shines high, the sky is blue, and the warm temperatures...

After a dark, cold winter in Ontario, there comes a day where the sun shines high, the sky is blue, and the warm temperatures come back. This photo was shot on that day while overlooking Humber Bay in Toronto. I like this shot due to the simplicity of it and juxtaposition of the warm feeling while it is still cold. This shot was also taken using a polarizing filter which creates the extremely vivid blue sky.

StevePell.ca

Design

blue

brand

clean

css

custom

flat

html

ia

interface

logo

minimal

navy

photography

pink

sandy canvas

steve pell

ux

visual system

vivid

web

website

white

wordpress

StevePell.ca is a complete re-design of my old site, Pellphoto.com. After years of procrastination I decided it was time to focus on illustration and graphic design as well as photography. The style of this site is an attempt for me to convey my personality in a visual way using a style I am not commonly known for. In the past I have been partial to maximalism which for me was more artistic than it was design, as I learn and grow I am focusing on the basic elements of design and architecture over the veneer. More to come in subsequent versions.

Design Details

Type

Website

Client

Steve Pell

My Role

Interface, UX, IA, Visual System, Brand, CSS, HTML

URL

www.stevepell.ca

Through the Valley

Photo

blue

green

landscape

lens flare

mountains

sky

sun

sunny

valley

vivid

warm

This is a shot along a valley near Osoyoos,British Columbia, Canada. This is part of a series of images shot from a road trip we took from Toronto to Tofino and back. This was an area of the southern route through B.C. that took us through some really unique landscapes which were basically deserts in the valleys through the mountain range. I love the colour of this shot and the apparent depth created by the hazy background and the vivid foreground. I also didn’t mind the lens flare as I feel it helps convey the warmth and beauty of the moment.
