Here is some information from Wikipedia. The CN Tower, located in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is a communications and observation tower standing 553.3 metres (1,815 ft) tall. It was the tallest free standing structure for 31 years until September 12, 2007 when it was surpassed in height by Burj Khalifa (formerly known as Burj Dubai). It is a relatively environmentally friendly car so I wanted to shoot it in the country. The processing style was attempting to give it a painted, somewhat surreal look, the lighting conditions that day were appropriate to give it the soft pastel sky. For this composite, I was happy about the way the car turned out, I am just unsure about the halo around the treeline, which isn’t necessary due to the editing technique.

Spitfire in flight

Photo

blue

clouds

composite

plane

sky

spitfire

Walking down Victoria Street in Kitchener, Ontario, you will come across a store called "KW Surplus". On the top of the building is a large scale replica of a Spitfire. I thought it could be a lot of fun to composite a shot of the plane on the roof with the sky that day which happened to be a bright sunny day with a few clouds. I composed them together to come up with what you see here. This is one of my favorite composites as I think it turned out really well.

Dead tree moon

Photo

bark

blue

clouds

composite

dead

moon

moss

sky

tree

wood

This was a shot of a really old and really dead tree. What I really love about this image is the Moon which is real… almost. I enlarged the Moon to give it more detail with in the frame. The location and lighting of it however were real, just not the size. I also really loved the contrast between the blue sky and the yellow bark on the tree. Pushing the colour and Moon size in this image helped it regain some visual interest.

No Aliens

Photo

alien

blue

composite

grass

pole

stars

I had a blast creating this image. When I was a kid I was tortured… no HAUNTED by the movie E.T. (that scene when he was sick or when the government agents come through the window..aaarg!..). Anyways, I thought it would be funny for those who knew my fear of Aliens to see this composition. I was trying to turn an otherwise boring composition into something fun. I use all my own assets in a composition, so the stars and the alien drawing are also created for this by me. I am pleased with the overall image, but a novelty more than anything.

Skyway Bridge

Photo

blue

bridge

clouds

composite

landscape

long exposure

night

orange

road

yellow

When I first got into photography shot a lot of photos of the Skyway Bridge in Burlington, Ontario. This composition was shot at night with a long exposure. What I really liked about the final composition was the light sky on the bottom right corner which was a reflection of the City of Hamilton. I also loved how the lights flared into the lens and the overall tungsten lighting with the cool sky colour. I did some clone stamping which didn’t turn out so well however was awesome for me at the time.

Going Down

Photo

blue

clouds

composite

crash

fire

formation

orange

planes

sky

smoke

sunset

This image is a composite of 2 images shot about 30 minutes apart. First was 5 trainers flying around in formation, the second was the incredible sunset. When I got back from the walk I didn’t really have any images that were interesting enough on their own so I decided to combine the two. I made one look like it was crashing because during their training they were practicing with the smoke, seemed logical, why not add flames and make it crash? I really like the overall composition though could use additional work.

Enlarge the Image

Looking at Yourself

Photo

book

brown

candice

composite

female

people

person

portrait

white

woman

This is a shot is one of my favourites. It is is a shot of her looking at a composite book of herself with a face lined up where her head actually is trying to make it seem like the book isn’t there at all. What I was impressed about this shoot was the clarity of the images shot to create the composite. It was shot at F8 using a Canon 24-70, needless to say it is crazy sharp. We were also experimenting with lighting on this shot to see if we could attempt a light contrast stock shoot feel.

Zombie Sandra

Photo

black

black & white

composite

eye

female

grey

hair

macro

not sexy

people

portrait

red

sandra

Here is a shot of Sandra edited to look as it does.
